Thanks for visiting. My Dharma name is Shinzen. I began studying Goshindo Karate under the watchful eye of Shihan Paul Dean in 1969. Yes, I now have gray hair. I am also Lay-ordained in Soto Zen under the tutelage of Rev. Nonin Chowaney of the Nebraska Zen Center.
Reminds me of the first Zen book I read. Full of emptiness. It took me a while though to realize the sweet.
ReplyDeleteAh, brilliant, I love it...the cup of enlightenment is indeed an empty one. A great post :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Ta Wan...I just noticed the ring in the bottom of the cup looks the Enso.
ReplyDeleteThanks...my first zen book started with the story of Nanin and the college professor...and the empty cup. It's a story that sticks to you.
Perfect.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should switch my morning coffee ritual to an empty cup ritual :p
Rizal: Thanks for the comment too...it disappeared into the empty cup I think.
ReplyDeleteAfter I wrote about it...it appeared from nothingness...weird.LOL!
ReplyDeleteDoug: Thanks a bunch.
ReplyDelete....in fact even the cup disappears! No experience of enlightenment, and no experiencer....
ReplyDeleteAnd yet everything continues to unfold ;-)
